{"id":2799,"date":"2017-03-05T21:47:40","date_gmt":"2017-03-05T21:47:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/familyreunionhelper.com\/blog\/?p=2799"},"modified":"2017-03-05T21:47:40","modified_gmt":"2017-03-05T21:47:40","slug":"piatas-a-smashing-good-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/familyreunionhelper.com\/blog\/2017\/03\/piatas-a-smashing-good-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Pi&ntilde;atas- a Smashing Good Time!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/familyreunionhelper.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/pin6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"pin6\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"pin6\" src=\"http:\/\/familyreunionhelper.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/pin6_thumb.jpg\" width=\"584\" height=\"451\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pi\u00f1atas are a fun activity for birthdays, celebrations and family reunions and because they\u2019re made with paper Mache paste and newspaper strips they\u2019re inexpensive to make though can be expensive to fill.&nbsp; You can make your own pi\u00f1ata or buy one in any shape or design that will add to your party\u2019s theme.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, to play the pi\u00f1ata game,you blindfold the first child in line and turn them around three times, and give them a wooden stick so they can swing at and if lucky, hit the&nbsp; pi\u00f1ata.<\/p>\n<h2>Pi\u00f1ata Fun&nbsp; with Dice<\/h2>\n<p>At a recent family reunion we did a fun variation of smashing the pi\u00f1ata by using a large dice made from a square box.&nbsp; Each child rolled the \u201cdice\u201d to determine how many swings with a stick they would have at the pi\u00f1ata.&nbsp; If they roll a four they try to hit the pi\u00f1ata 4 times.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/familyreunionhelper.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/dice.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"dice\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"dice\" src=\"http:\/\/familyreunionhelper.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/dice_thumb.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"379\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>HINT:&nbsp; When&nbsp; planning to use a pi\u00f1ata as one of your activities be sure to have a plan&nbsp; for how you will hang it up- tree, a beam if inside or 2 adults could hold a rope or a pole with the pi\u00f1ata hanging in the middle.&nbsp; For safety&#8217;s sake keep everyone away from the&nbsp; person&nbsp; swinging at the pi\u00f1ata.<\/p>\n<h2>Pull Pi\u00f1atas<\/h2>\n<p>\u201dPull\u201d pi\u00f1atas are perfect for small children or&nbsp; for times when sticks may not be appropriate. Fill them&nbsp; with&nbsp; treats as you would a classic pi\u00f1ata and instead of hitting it with a stick just choose a ribbon and pull to release the trapdoor and the treats.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Image result for pull pinatas\" src=\"https:\/\/s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com\/originals\/63\/58\/02\/6358029c007854a34a5fb5cdf23bf599.jpg\" width=\"337\" height=\"337\"><\/p>\n<h2>Pi\u00f1ata Cakes<\/h2>\n<p>One of the most clever ideas I\u2019ve seen on Pinterest recently is a pi\u00f1ata cake.&nbsp; No smashing involved with&nbsp; this pi\u00f1ata but you will&nbsp; find plenty of treats inside.&nbsp; Below are some quick instructions but for more detailed information click on the photo below- they\u2019re the real experts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.taste.com.au\/recipes\/pinata-party-cake\/899ec5ef-c067-4b99-bca4-d0b7307840da\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Pinata party cake\" src=\"http:\/\/img.taste.com.au\/MV1msD-o\/w720-h480-cfill-q80\/taste\/2016\/11\/pinata-party-cake-100115-1.jpeg\" width=\"311\" height=\"207\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A pi\u00f1ata cake is simple to make- just make a 3 layer, round cake.&nbsp; Leave two of the layers intact for the&nbsp; top and the bottom.&nbsp; Frost the bottom layer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/familyreunionhelper.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/p2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"p2\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"p2\" src=\"http:\/\/familyreunionhelper.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/p2_thumb.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"221\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the third layer, the middle layer, cut the center out and place the remaining ring on top of the bottom layer. Fill the center of the cake with&nbsp; small,&nbsp; unwrapped candies such as M and M\u2019s or Skittles. Make sure you fill&nbsp; the cavity to the top with candy.
